Blazar Anamorphic

Big Personality, Small Package

At just 1.7 lbs, this lightweight, anamorphic cine lens packs serious character. With a 1.5x squeeze ratio, BLAZAR REMUS opens up new creative possibilities, covering large formats up to 3:2 open gate.

With its luminous T.2 aperture, the Remus lens casts a dreamy focus fall-off and graces every shot with elegant, oval bokeh. It comes in a variety of focal lengths from 33mm all the way to 135mm.

I’ve got the 85mm lens and here are some shots taken in Singapore. But keep an eye on the softness when shooting wide open at T 2.8. At T 4, the visuals punches well above its weight and I would have no qualms about using them on professional projects.

The focus ring is smooth and it has a nice amount of resistance. The aperture ring is slightly tighter which is just nice for me.

It allows for smooth, effortless focus pulls from minimum distance to infinity. Ideal for solo operators or those working with smaller cameras.

The lenses are available with either silver, blue or amber flares depending on which option you choose. I opted for the amber flare version because it has a more natural look.

The lenses are surprisingly well-made and constructed given their low price point. I won’t go too technical on this review , such as focus breathing, barrel distortion or chromatic aberration, as its meant to show the visuals it can capture with a little Da Vinci Resolve grade done to it.

If you find photography lenses too sharp and clinical looking, perhaps its time to experiment with cine lens.
