SPH Media brought us in to create a two minute animated film for Enterprise Singapore, tracing six decades of standards and accreditation on this island. It screened at Enterprise Singapore’s Gala and ran across their social channels. The script opens with a question: What made the world trust products and services from a country this small?
We built the piece around a single dot travelling along an ink line, from the 1960s to the present day.
Singapore is the dot.
Every point it passes is a milestone.
Key moments are given a watercolour aesthetic. Soft pigment washes sit on fine textured paper. Linework is kept minimal so the brush strokes carry the image.
Images are separated into layers, so foreground and background drift at different speeds as the camera moves through them. That parallax is what gives a flat watercolour wash real depth.
The ink line is the spine holding everything together. It runs constantly from the first frame to the last, never stopping, as the decades evolve. Every step widens Singapore’s reach: a testing mark local manufacturers can put on a product, an accreditation that lowers a trade barrier, a recognition that opens the door to an international supply chain.
The video ends with the dot spreading wide and far, throwing lines outward until it is the point everything else connects back to.
Trust built quietly at home, arriving everywhere at once.
Our expertise lies in illustrations brought to life through motion graphics, built in layers and moved with precise 2.5D camera work for depth. It is an approach we have taken through archival storytelling before, on History of SMRT and History of MHA, both for SPH Media, and on our Atelier Wen “Tantalum” film. AI video cannot achieve this in minutes. Push an AI generated sequence past 10 seconds and precise text placement and fonts are the first casualties.
